  4. DESCRIPTION
  5.  
  6.    Seascape (TM) is a screen saver which displays relatively realistic
  7.    fish (blue majors) and little animals (microdes) on which they
  8.    feed.  System requirements:  Seascape must be run on Microsoft
  9.    Windows 3.1 (or later); the recommended minimum hardware
  10.    configuration is a 386 with 4 Mb of RAM.  This program is produced
  11.    by a member of the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP).

  14. SEASCAPE LICENSE AGREEMENT
  15.  
  16.    This software product is copyrighted, and all rights are reserved
  17.    by the author and publisher.
  18.  
  19.    Installation and use of Seascape requires that you agree to the
  20.    following conditions:

  22.      Trying out Seascape is free, but for continued use registration
  23.      is required.  Registration of a single copy of Seascape permits
  24.      you to use it on a single computer, except that if you use one PC
  25.      at work and another at home, or both a desktop PC and a portable
  26.      PC, you may use Seascape on both with a single registration.
  27.  
  28.      You are invited to make unregistered copies of Seascape for your
  29.      friends.  All copies must contain the unaltered complete set of
  30.      files generated by selecting "Make a Copy" as described below
  31.      (or, if you prefer, by using "diskcopy" to duplicate your
  32.      unaltered installation disk).

  34.      Commercial users of Seascape must register and pay for their
  35.      copies of Seascape within 90 days of first use or their license
  36.      is withdrawn.  Site License arrangements may be made by con-
  37.      tacting Advanced Computer Tektonics.

  40.      ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.  DUE TO THE

  56. REGISTRATION

  58.    For continued use of Seascape, registration is required.

  60.    Your registration fee will help finance improvement of Seascape,
  61.    and as a registered user you will be entitled to a $10 discount
  62.    on registration of our next major release.

  64.    When you're ready to register (or if you just want more
  65.    details), select "Register..." in Seascape's Setup dialog box.

  71. HOW TO MAKE AN UNREGISTERED COPY OF SEASCAPE
  72.  
  73.    1.  Insert a blank formatted diskette in a suitable drive.
  74.  
  75.    2.  Select "Make a Copy" in the Seascape Setup dialog.  (To get
  76.        to the Seascape Setup dialog, open the Control Panel from
  77.        Main in Program Manager, double click on Desktop, make sure
  78.        Seascape is shown the name of your current Screen Saver,
  79.        and click on Setup.)

  81.    3.  When production of the copy is complete, please put on the
  82.        diskette a label that says:

  87.                In the Windows 3.1 Program Manager:
  88.                1. Select "File".
  89.                2. Select "Run".
  90.                3. Type "A:SeaNstal" (or "B:SeaNstal").
  91.                4. Insert diskette in drive A (or B).
  92.                5. Select "OK".

  95.                choosing whether to proceed with installation.

  99. USING SEASCAPE
  100.  
  101.    Since Seascape is integrated with the Microsoft Screen Saver
  102.    utility, it is accessed by activating the Control Panel (from
  103.    the Program Manager's "Main" window), choosing "Desktop" to
  104.    open the Desktop dialog box, and then selecting "Seascape" on
  105.    the Screen Saver Name list.
  106.  
  107.    Note that from the Control Panel you can also access Seascape
  108.    and other screen saver controls by selecting "Settings" and
  109.    then selecting "Screen Saver...".  (Depending on your
  110.    configuration, you may also be able to directly choose a
  111.    "Screen Saver" icon in your Control Panel.)
  112.  
  113.    Features such as changing the Delay (between the end of user
  114.    activity and start-up of the screen saver) and setting a
  115.    password are precisely the same for Seascape as for Microsoft-
  116.    supplied screen savers.  To set the Delay, click on the little
  117.    up and down triangles to the right of "Delay:" in the Desktop
  118.    dialog box.  To try out the currently selected screen saver,
  119.    click on the "Test" button in the Desktop dialog box.

  121.    Additional Seascape options, including password setting, are
  122.    accessed by clicking on "Setup..." in the Desktop dialog box
  123.    (with "Seascape" showing in the Screen Saver Name field).

  126. HOW TO PRINT THIS DOCUMENTATION

  128.    This documentation is contained in SEAS_DOC.TXT, located on
  129.    your installation diskette (if you have one) and, following
  130.    installation, in the SEASCAPE subdirectory of your Windows
  131.    startup directory (typically C:\WINDOWS\SEASCAPE).  Should
  132.    you want a hard copy, it can easily be printed with Notepad.

  161.    Seascape will be shipped on a 3.5" diskette unless you request
  162.    a 5.25" diskette.

  164.    If you are ordering from outside the United States, please
  165.    either send a check in your local currency for an amount
  166.    equivalent to the U.S. dollar price, or else send a cashier's
  167.    check for U.S. dollars payable through a bank in the U.S.
  168.    Banks here have informed us that while they can process both
  169.    the above sorts of payment, they cannot process Eurochecks
  170.    for U.S. dollar amounts because of complications related to
  171.    having the currency conversion done abroad.

  173.    (California residents:  the prices above include any
  174.    applicable sales tax, so you need not calculate it.)

  177. INSTALLATION
  178.  
  179.    1. From the Windows 3.1 (or later) program manager menu bar
  180.       select "File".
  181.  
  182.    2. Select "Run...".
  183.  
  184.    3. If you're installing from a diskette, insert your Seascape
  185.       diskette into drive A or B.  Then enter A:SeaNstal in the
  186.       Command Line field (or B:SeaNstal if you're using drive B)
  187.       and select OK.
  188.  
  189.       If you're installing after downloading Seascape to your hard
  190.       disk, you have probably already extracted files, e.g. with
  191.       PKUNZIP SEASCAPE.ZIP; if not, do so.  Then enter
  192.       <PATH>SeaNstal in the Command Line field, where <PATH> is
  193.       the path of the directory containing your Seascape files
  194.       (for instance, C:\INBOX\SEASCAPE\SeaNstal if they're in
  195.       C:\INBOX\SEASCAPE), and select OK.
  196.  
  197.    4. Enter your first and last names in the space provided
  198.       (first name first) and select OK.
  199.  
  200.    5. When asked to confirm that you want to install Seascape
  201.       in your Windows startup directory, select OK.  (Since this
  202.       is the directory in which the Control Panel's Screen Saver
  203.       utility searches for screen savers, it's the only
  204.       correct place to install Seascape.)
  205.  
  206.    Note:  If you have an earlier version of Seascape, simply
  207.    follow the instructions above to replace it with this version.
  208.    If your earlier version was registered, you can activate
  209.    registration for this version by entering your existing
  210.    registration key.

  213. UNINSTALLATION
  214.  
  215.    Should you wish to remove Seascape from your computer,
  216.    go to your windows startup directory (typically C:\WINDOWS)
  217.    and issue the following commands.
  218.  
  219.       del sscscape.scr
  220.       del seascape\*.*
  221.       rmdir seascape
  222.    
  223.   If you wish, then delete the "[ScreenSaver.Seascape]" section
  224.   in control.ini (in your windows startup directory, typically
  225.   C:\WINDOWS).  (This section stores about 65 bytes of
  226.   configuration data, such as your prefered number of fish.)

  253. SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTOR AND BBS INFORMATION

  255.      Copies of Seascape provided by a shareware distributor
  256.      or made available on a BBS must include all Seascape
  257.      files without any alteration.  Compressing the files
  258.      into a single distributable file with a utility such as
  259.      PKZIP or LHA does not count as alteration.  When such
  260.      archiving is done, the distributed file should have a
  261.      name which makes it readily recognizable as Seascape
  262.      and if possible makes clear the version; the standard
  263.      name for zipped Version 1.3 is SEASCA13.ZIP, or, for
  264.      systems that allow only 6 character names, SEAS13.ZIP.
  265.  
  266.      Anyone distributing Seascape for any kind of remuneration
  267.      must contact Advanced Computer Tektonics at the address
  268.      above for authorization, and except for distributors who
  269.      are members of the Association of Shareware Professionals,
  270.      this authorization must be granted in advance of any such
  271.      distribution.  Authorization to distribute Seascape will be
  272.      automatically granted to distributors recognized by the
  273.      Association of Shareware Professionals as adhering to its
  274.      guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors
  275.      may begin offering Seascape immediately (however, Advanced
  276.      Computer Tektonics must still be advised so that the
  277.      distributor can be kept up to date with the latest version
  278.      of Seascape).  The fee charged by a distributor for
  279.      providing a copy of Seascape may not exceed $10.00.
